HEAD-LINES
Head-lines: A poem that develops from the first images that come to mind (the head) after reading a news headline.
This is a form of poetry that I have just begun writing. It is my own creation. (I think…)
It consists of a headline from a news source (generally current events) as the title of the poem and followed by three relatively short lines. There is no real structure (save for the headline followed by three lines) since headline titles can vary in number of syllables there is no restriction on the three lines. It is, for lack of a better description, free verse with an English style haiku or senryĆ« feel to it, generally non-rhyming. The third line of most that I’ve written at this juncture contain the main emphasis, irony, dramatic finale.
